Some shows are too wacky and wild to believe. The survivor of a key mission in Peru has
suddenly developed his five senses in advanced ways that help him when he comes
back to the U.S. to fight crimes. Jim
(Richard Burgi) is not aware of this at first, but after some strange instances
where he is told he is experiencing things in his imagination when he knows
otherwise, an anthropological science brain named Blair (Garrett Maggart) is
able to point out the real source of the differences and the adventures begin
in The Sentinel – The Complete First Season.
This box features the first ten episodes of this show that
wants to help CBS leave fuddy duddy TV behind, mixing Manimal, The
Six Million Dollar Man, Predator, Rambo, MacGyver and
anything else the producers can throw in.
Besides lack of originality, the show is so slap dash in the way it
presents the backstory, and then has the characters constantly talking at each
other instead of to each other. There
are all ten hour-long episodes here, but they begin to drag very quickly and as
a cop/buddy piece, it pales as compared to the far superior CBS/Paramount show Numbers,
which we will review soon.
The 1.33 X 1 image has softness and detail problems, but
is on the color consistent side and not shot with any memorable form, though
the quality varies from show to show in wider ways than expected. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has Pro Logic
surrounds, but they are weak and lack soundfield, while dialogue seems smaller
in Pro Logic mode. There are no extras,
but another set is on the way.
