Deuce Bigelow - Male Gigolo: Little Black Book Edition

Picture: C+     Sound: B-     Extras: D     Film: D

Some films are so bad that you have to see them to believe it, though a new and sizable generation of filmgoers are immune to such criticism thinking nothing can be “that” bad, they are just too young to know bad.  Deuce Bigelow – Male Gigolo: Little Black Book Edition is the new DVD version of the original catastrophe of a film that is one of the top reasons box office is a wreck and will stay that way for a while.  It is beyond belief that this inspired a sequel!

Rob Schneider, plummeting to new lows after so many years of good work on Saturday Night Live an eternity ago, is the goofy, goony idiot who either has awful jobs from hell or becomes a seducer of people as goofy as he.  Seems like justice.  The films starts out very badly as Deuce is cleaning a giant aquarium tank naked, but is not done by the opening of business, so stupidity results.  It is unfunny and gets worse and worse.  Schneider just walks through the film even worse than his usual tired walk-through.  Even explaining the title would be torture, but know you have seen it all before and 88 minutes is like being abducted hostage against one’s will.  The 1.85 X 1 anamorphically enhanced image is flat and Dolby Digital 5.1 mix barely alive, as are the few extras of three featurettes and the ironic “seven deleted scenes” from a film that is a record-length compendium.  Skip this and give generously to The Red Cross instead.  Hurricane Katrina victims can use the money more.
