Jane Wyman is a stewardess who has to choose between three
very likable men who even have the same first name in the dated, contrived,
campy and odd film Three Guys Named Mike. Written by future TV sitcom king Sidney Sheldon, the slightly
melodramatic and stuffy film has Van Johnson, Howard Keel and Barry Sullivan
sharing the title roles, but the film just gets muddier and muddier very, very
slowly as it goes on.
Not the screwball comedy the case claims, everyone tries
to be funny, but director Charles Walter just cannot make the material work and
the talent is restrained so much as to be wasted. At best, it is an amusing curio and predictable to match. The 1.33 X 1 black and white image was shot
by Paul Vogel, A.S.C., and it is definitely on the soft side. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono fares a bit
better, but shows its age. The only
extras are an introduction to the film by Michael Young that has badly recorded
audio and some previews for other Troma DVDs.
