The Making Of: Firefighter Fundraising Calendar

When the idea of a firefighter calendar becoming a hot
item took off, who knows, or why. Maybe
it was sometime in the 1980s when exercise, bodybuilding & a new (and too
often phony) sense of body consciousness turned up, this was a result. Traditionally, it has been considered the
“beefcake” world because the job has traditionally been filled by men, but as a
vast majority of such departments have had to be filled by some or all
volunteers and women’s roles changed, they too are becoming firefighters. The Making Of: Firefighter Fundraising
Calendar is a DVD companion to two new calendars being made for charity,
but this time, an all-woman version is being produced.
The each person picked for each production are down to
earth, come across well outside of their physiques and is for the 2006
year. This would seem lame, but
anything to raise money and this is not done as badly as expected. That only leaves its short running time as
its greatest setback. Everyone looks
good, though I think the women should be made a bit more glamorous next time
without betraying the blue collar nature of their work.
The 1.33 X 1 image throughout is shot on analog NTSC video
and is just fine for a little program like this. The sound is PCM 16Bit/48kHz simple stereo for a change and that
is actually more engaging than usual, so that is a plus. Extras include outtakes, text on the models
and an interview segment. Our DVD case
came with a desktop calendar, but it only offers one of the men.
