The
Janitor

I initially thought about writing this huge write-up for
this film basically picking it apart piece-by-piece and describing why it’s an
absolute piece of rubbish, but then I realized something vital. That is, by doing so the film would take
away more minutes from my life, as if the ones spent watching it weren’t
enough! Why films like this are even
made are beyond me, and the Troma studio seems to have a knack for churning out
filth. Filth that makes aspiring and
sincere filmmakers want to scream bloody murder for the simple fact that no
matter how low the budget… money was wasted for such incompetent and most of
all disgraceful work. Even more disturbing
is the fact that the people behind the making of this actually know how bad it
is, thus indulging themselves in its horrific glory. Now, here comes The Janitor.
Material like this is downright insulting to the very
nature of the existence of man and truly shows just how degrading we can be. In short, the film is about a janitor who
basically enjoys killing people, but in the most audacious and ridiculous ways,
if you’ve seen terrible B-pictures before you can only imagine just how bad. You know the typical blood squirting
everywhere and the really bad acting as it’s happening, plus these movies also
seem to squeeze in enough time for nudity, which is never necessary nor erotic,
but just silly and sleazy. Comic relief
enters in at the most irrelevant times, sort of like Cannibal: The Musical
(another Troma feature with those guys from South Park) only not nearly as
clever.
Picture quality and sound quality for this DVD is as can
be expected for being such a low-budget production. The production value alone is pathetic and takes the phrase
‘student film’ to a whole new level.
Poor staging, lighting, etc it would be impossible to expect good audio
or video in this case. Shot in 1.85 X 1
this DVD does not appear to be anamorphically enhanced, nor does the 2.0 Dolby
mix offer anything exciting sonically.
Extras are abundant, yet fail to deliver anything meaningful, but they
do include a commentary with drunk people, a full-length documentary about the
making of the film, deleted and alternate scenes, a music video, the short film
that inspired this ‘work of art’, and a few more perks such as the trailer and
Easter eggs.
Only question is…who is going to clean up after this mess?
