Here’s Looking At You (Body Art Documentary)

When I first heard about Here’s Looking At You, I
knew it would not be about any famous films since it was a WGBH documentary
title. It is billed as a look at Body
Art, but before you think strictly tattoos, think again. Though you get that, there is also hair,
nails, piercings all over the body and more.
Though one might want to argue if it is a good idea to do any of this
permanently or not, the approach is one about personal expression, pride and
individuality.
What is most impressive is the number of people
interviewed, willing to open up about their personal lives and the diversity of
all the people taking different approaches (more than ever) in new senses of
appearance. This might have been newer
or more underground ten to twenty years ago, but like so many other things, has
slowly expanded into something the program does not address, its own little industry. This runs about an hour.
The 1.33 X 1 is a very recent taping in professional NTSC
video that may even have digital aspects, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
has Pro Logic surrounds despite much of the program having location auto
taping. There are no extras, but those
more interested in t he subject will enjoy this disc.
