Disney has positioned their Little Einsteins
franchise as a competitor to the Paramount/Nickelodeon hit Dora The Explorer,
and Our Huge Adventure could have been called our group of explorers
for all the fantasy traveling the foursome of Leo, Annie, Quinn, June and the
humanized Rocket do. This also means
having the characters constantly talk to the audience, but the show is never
harsh, mean, vulgar or condescending.
The fact I have to say that says something about how bad children’s
programming has become.
At the same time, this is only for very young children,
who do not have enough safe, friendly programming like this. Not to say this is perfect, but there is far
worse out there in the entertainment landscape and except for some forgettable
sing-along songs, is good for that age group.
The 1.33 X 1 full frame image is simple with interesting
color and very overly simple animation.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is fine for what it is, maybe louder than
expected considering the audience of the show, but that is easily remedied by
the volume control to some extent.
Extras include two games and a few previews on the DVD, plus an
activities booklet inside the case with games, stickers and a passport fun
number.
