J.J. Sansaverino – Sunshine After Midnight
(CD)

We always are wondering where all the talented musicians
are. We know many of them are backing
name acts and J.J. Sansaverino is on that list. Sansaverino has been a world-traveling guitarist for years and
according to what we’ve read, logged up some work with some of the best in the
business, like George Clinton, Kelly Price, Maxi Priest and even played Paul
McCartney’s wedding. Not bad, and
neither is his new solo debut album Sunshine After Midnight, a decent
(if not always successful) attempt to show off his talents.
He co-wrote every track here, which shows his natural
grasp of guitar, though the tracks were not always as memorable or challenging
as they could have been in showing off what he seems to be capable of. Many of them are very laid back and outside
of scratching samples and even occasional touches of Reggae that often seem out
of place, it is a throwback to older R&B and cool Jazz of the past. The tracks are:
1) Sunshine
2) Swing
Easy
3) On The
Avenue
4) Rejuvenation
5) Just
About Everybody
6) Fuego
7) The
Rhythm Of The City
8) Fallen
Heroes
9) Mother
10) Victory Of Righteousness
11) My Lover
12) Joenze
There is nothing phony or forced about this album, which
is a plus. People who enjoy the genres noted
will want to hear this at least once, especially because it is such a
professionally produced and recorded work.
The PCM 2.0 Stereo is nice and clean for the most part. You can go to www.jjsans.com and find out more about this
and Mr. Sansaverino himself. We look
forward to more ourselves.
