Gregory Horror Show – The Guest From Hell
Picture: C+
Sound: B- Extras: D Shorts: D
When we last looked at The Gregory Horror Show, we
discussed the repetitious point-of-view Horror gimmick show it was and thought
that would be the end of it. However,
Geneon is happy enough with the performance of the first DVD to continue
issuing more. The appropriately titled The
Guest From Hell is actually worse than the original set of installments on
the first DVD.
I figured if they were going to continue, they would come
up with a new gimmick, but we get more of the same CG silliness that we could
all do without. You would think they
would try something new, but it is one of the biggest run-on series of
anything we have ever seen. This runs
73 minutes over 13 mini-installments and any way you cut it, it is a
disaster. Young children should not
watch this either, then neither should adults.
The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo with some Pro Logic surrounds
is the strongest feature of this DVD by default, also being the most modern
thing about the whole presentation.
Extras include previews for three more Geneon DVD titles, four bonus
episodes of more ultimately annoying and pointless installments of a sister set
of shorts with some of the same characters called The Bloody Carte and a
plug for action figures from the main show that shows one of them and a website
for more information. You may be
curious to see it once, but you will be bored afterwards in obtaining either
DVD, which is a remarkable waste of time.
