Now
for a different mix of comedies...
Will
Gluck's Anyone But You
is a sort of larger-screen version (if that) of the repetitive,
sloppy, ultra-predictable, dippy, tired, juvenile, unfunny,
pseudo-romantic comedies shown 24-hours-a-day as day on the hideous
Hallmark Channel and even lifeless Lifetime Network. Sydney Sweeney
and Glen Powell are the couple about to wed in Australia until it all
collapses, but can things be changed, turned around and saved?
It
is annoying to see grown adults act like pre-teens in the goofiest
way, but that is what is being passed for a romantic comedy in this
most unfortunate cycle that has ever happened to the genre and this
one is as condescending. Too bad the Maori could not have had its
production boycotted., because this is really bad and turns by Dermot
Mulroney and Rachel Griffiths cannot save or legitimize it either.
Extras
include
Digital Movie code, while the disc adds....
Hugo
Sakamoto's Baby
Assassins 2
is the sequel to the telefilm-turned-hit Baby
Assassins
we covered a few years ago here...
http://www.fulvuedrive-in.com/review/16161/Baby+Assassins+(2021/Well+Go+Blu-ray)/Chocky
Chisato
(Akari Takaishi) and Mahilo (Saori Izawa) are back, a little older
and doing the same old things, and so young. We are supposed to
believe they are high school kids (now) who kill, are trained to kill
and need to kill. Ridiculous last time, it is somehow more trying
than the first one and is meant to be a one-joke, high concept that
works, but I did not like it then or now. It may hold more water in
Japan, but event hat would be limited.
Therefore,
see the first one first, but even if one loves the concept, what new
is this sequel adding? What is here that we have not seen before?
Not much. The result is for fans only, if that, but even then, they
will not all be happy with this one and some might see it as some
kind of money grab.
Trailers
for this and three other Well Go USA releases are the only extras.
Rick
and Morty: Season 7 is
the latest installment of the grandfather/scientist and his grandson
that we have covered before, which you can read more about here...

Again,
you really have to start from the beginning to get the most out of
the show, but the makers understand their audience, their appeal,
what they are doing and are very consistent in delivering it all well
enough. It may be gross and too gross for some (or for this viewer,
just repetitive and part of the package that makes it free of some
kind of 'pretension' for fans) but removing that, its appeal is then
more understandable. Now you can continue to see for yourself.
Extras
include...
Directing
Unmortricken (featurette): Jacob Hair walks us through the
challenges of making one of the most ambitious and action-packed
episodes in the series history, centered on the climatic showdown
between Rick and his arch-nemesis.
The
Characters of Season 7: A wide-ranging look at how the character
team crafted this season's most impressive and challenging new
designs. For example, how did the team create Jerricky, which
consists of fusing two iconic characters together.
and
Inside Season 7: A deep dive on S7's biggest story shifts and
reveals, plus an overall look at the making of the season from the
perspective of various members of the crew.
Now
for playback performance. The 1080p 1.85 X 1 digital High Definition
image on Anyone
is a little better
than I expected, but not by much, though not as sloppy for an HD
shoot in the genre versus so many worse. That still does not make
the affair watchable, but color is a saving grace
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 High Definition image transfer on Assassins
2 is
a little better than its predecessor, but not by much with a so-so
digital shoot. Color is not bad, though. The 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital
High Definition image transfers on Morty
are the best here, a tad better than the previous sets, but not
enough for a higher letter grade. All
three offer DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mixes with various
degrees of success, as Anyone
sounds too boxy, Assassins
2 is
mixed and Morty
the most consistent.
