Chunibyo
- A person with delusions of fantasy and grandeur, often mimicking
characters, heroes/heroines and acting them out in real life. Rikka
is a hardcore Chunibyo (a.k.a. Wicked Lord Shingan) who declares Yuta
(a.k.a. Dark Flame Master) to be her soul mate (boyfriend). Along
with a few other Chunibyos, Dekomori, Mori Summer and Tsuyuri they
play out their high school days with their fantasies, cosplays and
delusions.
This
Love,
Chunibyo & Other Delusions!: Rikka Version
(2013) movie is essentially a giant recap for the entire series.
Yuta, a former Chunibyo has tried (and failed) to leave his past
character/delusions behind. However, he was dragged back into the
Chunibyo world by Rikka, and the only way to reach her is through
another Chunibyo. Together they started a 'magic club' which they
are joined Dekomori, Rikka's apprentice, Nibutani (a.k.a. Mori
Summer) a closet Chunibyo and their classmate Tsuyuri. At first they
all clashed mightily... but over time Yuta and Rikka fall in love ...
and love still falls within the realm of magic.
Asides
from the fantasy wedding scene in the beginning, the entire movie is
made up of clips from the entire series with some of the most
exciting and touching moments in the series. The whole story/plot is
about living and following your dream (even if it isn't real), being
honest with yourself and finding friends and love.
The
1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image transfers on the Blu-ray
show improvements over the DVD versions and are the preferred way to
watch, but it also shows some flaws and limits the DVD here and DVDs
cover up. The DTS-HD MA (Master
Audio) 5.1 English and especially Japanese lossless mixes are some of
the best-sounding of any Sentai release to date, far surpassing the
lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 on the DVD here and the Dolby Digital 2.0
Stereo on the older DVD sets. Fans will be pleasantly surprised too.
Extras
include Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions! Lite: "My Brother
2" short, clean opening and closing animations, Japanese
previews and trailers.
Sentai
issued the original versions of the series before, which we covered
