Bella
Brown (Jessica Brown Findlay) is an odd young woman, a
writer/librarian living quietly in the heart of London, until she
faces eviction from her landlord. Unless she is able to revive her
over grown garden in one month's time, out she goes. Along with her
grumpy neighbor Alfie (Tom Wilkinson) and her neighbor Vernon (Andrew
Scott), they help her weed and rebuild her garden. Bella learns
about the magic of gardening and friendship in Simon Aboud's This
Beautiful Fantastic (2016).
Bella
is an odd ducking, as a child she was a foundling raised by ducks and
as a young woman she has a phobia of plants and fauna. She works a
librarian, living quietly wanting to become a children's book author
someday. She meets Billy (Jeremy Irvine) an inventor of mechanical
animals and her grouchy neighbor Alfie, and Vernon a cook, and they
end up inspiring her to write her book as well as helping her fixing
her garden.
This
was a heart warming drama about friendship and as a young woman,
follows her dreams with a fairytale like story and ending. It's was
like a grown up version of Secret Garden, as good as any
version of that and a much larger audience is out there for this one.
The
anamorphically enhanced image and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix are
about as good as they can be in this format, but the film is
screaming out for a Blu-ray or even 4K Blu-ray release. Extras only
include trailers.
