Long
ago, monsters existed and humans hunted them down, but when a new
baby monster king is born, both humans and monsters are after it.
And Tianyin is caught between the two worlds when he becomes the
father/guardian of the baby king, in Raman Hui's CGI hit Monster
Hunt (2015).
Tianyin
was an ordinary villager until he became 'pregnant' with the future
monster king and he discovered that he was raised in a village of
monsters in hiding. Now, there are monsters who want the baby king's
throne and bounty hunters who are after the bounty on Wuba. He meets
the beautiful bounty huntress Xaolin and they are forced to team up
together. While they clashed at first, they eventually became closer
and fell in love and decide to protect the baby king together.
Together, they believe humans and monsters can maybe live together in
peace one day, but to do that they have to first save the baby king
first if they can.
This
movie was like a mix of Despicable Me and martial arts, BUT I
hate to say the movie was dubbed in English and did not have the
original voice track. It was full up amusing and funny action scenes
with some sweet and touching scenes. Seems like Chinese animators
are improving on 3D CGI movies now and this was a big hit there.
The
anamorphically enhanced 2.35 X 1 image is on par with current DVDs,
but a Blu-ray (also issued in two versions) would really deliver,
while I was very disappointed with the lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 sound
mix, which was odd and bad. It was a defect or error, but just
really bad dubbing. This version has no extras, but some other
editions might, along with the original language track...
