Complete Collection (1999 - 2003).
Ever
since the citizens of Paradigm City lost their memories 40 years ago,
they have been scrambling to uncover their lost 'memories' to help
rebuild their city and society. Unfortunately, society has become
segregated, the super-wealthy living protected dome while the
majority of people live in the slums outside. Only a very few people
remember their memories, much less their own past. For those who do
remember, they become keys to the lost technologies of 'Megadeuses',
giant robots with incredible powers. Once long time ago there were
hundreds of giant robots that walked and scorched the earth. Now,
those in power secretly horde 'memories' at any cost for their own
greed, profit and power. Roger Smith is the only exception, he is
the only one who remembers and has 'Big O', and along with Dorothy a
female android they use Big O to fight against the corporations and
rogue Megadeuses that attack their city. Roger is Paradigm City's
Dark Knight/defender and his mission is to destroy all those who
abuse 'Memory' and the 'Deuses'.
This
series was clearly an older set of transfer masters in 1080p 1.33 X 1
digital High Definition centered/bookended in a 1.78 X 1 frame here
on Blu-ray; it is old school mecha anime that could look better,
combining many characteristics and ideas from series such as Batman,
Dick Tracy, Lupin, some Film Noir/detective fiction and even Power
Rangers into one action/sci-fi series. While it is set in a
futuristic dystopian society, it's stories are old school of the lone
hero fighting to protecting his city.
The
sound is here is passable English and better Japanese DTS-HD
MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Stereo lossless, holding up much better than
the image. Extras include clean opening and closing
animations, interview with Japanese staff and trailers.
