Killer Rack (2015/Camp Motion Pictures DVD)

Picture: B- Sound: B- Extras: C+ Film: C

From the Director of Slime City, Greg Lamberson, comes the musical/comedy Killer Rack (2015) - a pretty hilarious cut indie with a few familiar B-movie faces and some effective comedic sequences. Starring Debbie Rochon, Lloyd Kaufman, Jessica Zwolak, and Brooke Lewis, Killer Rack's plot is pretty silly and a bit derivative of other films such as Idle Hands (which was recently reviewed elsewhere on this site), but there's a level of charm that makes it a fun popcorn muncher.

However, if you're looking to see a lot of nudity you will walk away from this pretty disappointed. In fact, I'm perplexed there wasn't considering the basis of the film and the fact that its gory enough to be R-rated anyway.

Betty Downer (Zwolak) feels at the root to all of her problems is her small boobs. Her boyfriend isn't into her, the boss at her job doesn't treat her as good as her busty co-workers, and her self confidence has reached an all time low. When she meets a mad plastic surgeon (played by Debbie Rochon who goes by the name ''Dr. Kate Thulu'' - a Lovecraft joke), she soon gets with huge fake knockers. Soon, things start to go south as she realizes they are part of Dr. Thulu's sinister plan for world domination.

Presented in standard definition with a 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio and lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track, the film looks fine for DVD and isn't anything too terribly impressive. The film is pretty well shot considering the shoe string budget for what it is.

Though funny at parts, Killer Rack would have been more effective had it had a bit more gore, nudity, and was shot on Super 16mm film (or at least digitally altered to look so). If it's aim is to be a Grindhouse-type or Troma-type film, it's a bit too weak.
