Out

The
religious indie Out of Darkness (2016) chronicles one man's
journey and transformation from darkness to light. Starring indie
actors Graham Green, Michael Joiner, John Lewis, and Sherry Morris -
the Shawn Justice film has a decent screenplay but overall lacks the
scope that it almost requires to tell the story that it is aiming to
tell.
Eli
is a man in his twenties with a calling on his life from a young age,
but he's been running from that calling - a modern day Jonah. After
being fired by his father, arguing with his girlfriend in front of
their daughter, and then a visit to the local pub, Eli decides to get
out of town. On a lonely mountain highway, Eli misses a turn and
careens over an embankment, landing deep in the forest. It is a
place of mystery with no way out, but it is there where God works on
his heart. Satan is not far behind of course, working to convince
Eli to take a different path. In the end, Eli is faced with a choice
that will have repercussions on generations as his destiny is to be
the Billy Graham of his time.
Presented
in standard definition with a 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio and a
lossy 2.0 Dolby Digital Stereo track, the film's presentation on disc
is standard and nothing too special. Considering a low budget film
of this nature and budget, it's fine.
No
Extras.
If
you're a fan of Christian films, then this may be up your alley, just
don't expect more than you would on your average no budget indie.
