From
the Co-Creator of Mondo Cane, Franco E. Prosperi, comes a
gritty 1984 Italian film Wild Beasts, that turns a seemingly
normal zoo into a deadly war zone as exotic creatures turn vicious
when drinking some contaminated water laced with PCP. There's no
denying that the filmmaking here is daring as real animals were used
in some of these jaw dropping sequences that have to be seen to be
believed, esoecially with no digital visual effects at the time.
Wild
Beasts stars Italian actors Lorraine De Selle, John Aldrich, Ugo
Bologna, and Monica Nickel. This film is certainly not for the
weak-hearted, as it will make your skin crawl one minute and your jaw
drop the next as humans go face to face with tigers, rats, elephants,
and every other insane exotic creature that you can think of. The
scariest part of all is that something like this could actually
happen!
Presented
in 1080p 1.66 X 1 high definition and sporting an impressive new
digital transfer, Wild Beasts looks and sounds better than
ever in its first high definition remaster in the United States from
great 35mm film elements. The PCM 2.0 Mono sound mix compliments the
film fine yet shows its age a bit. Considering the low budget and
raw nature of the subject matter, this Blu-ray presentation really
goes above and beyond.

This
is a film that fans of exploitation won't want to miss, as it will
get you and your friends talking and wondering how some of these
scenes were pulled off. Another great release by Severin.
