Matt
Farnsworth's low budget horror flick introduces a new slasher villain
into the fold (who is apparently quite popular on social media
platforms) - The Orphan Killer (2011). Wearing a creepy mask
akin to Jason or Michael Myers, he also talks a lot like Freddy, with
some ridiculous puns muttered during torture scenes - he's also an
'urban legend' much like Mr. Krueger as well.
The
film stars Diane Foster, David Bachaus, Karen Young, James McCaffrey,
Charlotte Maier, Dana DeVestern, and John Savage.
The
Orphan Killer has no emotion and no remorse towards the poor orphans
that cross his path. Hellbent on killing his sister, The Orphan
Killer soon finds that she is a formidable match to him as the two
cross the line of murder and death.
This
Blu-ray combo pack features the film in sharp 1080p high definition
with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and a nice sounding,
lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mix (DTS-HD 2.0 also included
on the disc). For being an independent film, the transfer isn't half
bad with primarily natural tones throughout and an almost greenish
tint to the day scenes. Also included is the standard definition DVD
with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 2.35:1 and a lossy
Dolby Digital 5.1 track.
Special
Features include...

The
Orphan Killer checks off the list of slasher film necessities
with gore, torture, and some nudity, but ultimately doesn't craft an
experience that stands on its own but is more an inspiration of films
to which we are already familiar.
