Filmmaker
Joe Sarno (Inga, Daddy Darling) is honored in what will
be the first of many commemorative Blu-ray releases of his
sexploitation films - this release highlighting Vampire Ecstasy
(1973) and Sin You Sinners (1963). Both films feature
gorgeous women stripping down while supporting a loose narrative and
interesting filmmaking that above your average porn film. Shot on
low budgets and on film, the movies look as good as they can but have
aged considerably.
In
Sin You Sinners, an attractive yet aging exotic dancer uses
occult forces in the from of a magic amulet to grasp immortality and
stop her aging. When her jealous daughter catches on, a heist to
steal the amulet is formed which results in all sorts of catastrophes
and murder over the power of self image.
Vampire
Ecstasy doesn't have a lot in the way of 'plot' to really follow
and is more hot vampire chicks (which I'm okay with.) Three
beautiful woman inherit a castle and end up encountering a witch and
a vampire that charge them in new and unusual ways.
Both
films look great on Blu-ray disc and feature stunning 2K digitally
remastered 1080p high definition transfers that really don't
disappoint in 1.78:1 widescreen and lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono
tracks, though one still wonders why the sound was not lossless. The
flesh tones look bright and even throughout both films with highly
detailed color palettes in Vampire Ecstasy and black and white
for Sin You Sinners. Sin is full of scratches and
emulsions as a result of the condition of the print, but in many ways
this adds to the ''grindhouse-style'' experience rather than detract.
