John
Krasinski is without a doubt a talented actor and filmmaker, evident
here in his 2016 drama/romantic film The
Hollars.
Realistic in many instances, the film follows the exploits of a
slightly dysfunctional family that is facing divorce, economic
depression, loss, and the challenges of fatherhood. The cast here is
impressive and all give strong performances including Krasinski,
Margo Martindale, Anna Kendrick, Sharlto Copley, Richard Jenkins,
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Charlie Day and Ashley Dyke to name a few.
John
Hollar (Krasinksi) is a struggling New York City graphic novelist,
who has moved on from his small town life. When his mother Sally
(Martindale) is diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumor, he
goes back to be reunited with his father (Jenkins), a struggling
business owner, his brother (Copley) whose wife (Dyke) has left him
with his two kids, and his ex-girlfriend (Winstead) who is remarried
to a hospital nurse (Day). Facing fatherhood with his future spouse
(Kendrick), John must choose because going back to New York or
picking up where he left off in his small town.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1,
the film looks great on disc with bright and realistic colors and
tones throughout. The sound mix is sounds great with a DTS-HD MA
(Master Audio) lossless 5.1 mix that compliments the natural state of
the film, as there aren't any loud special effects or anything to
really warrant or merit a louder mix.
