Sneakerheadz
are sneaker collectors that, much like toy collecting or collecting
of any kind, has its own subculture. Brilliantly filmed and
edited, this 74-minute documentary is a fun look at insane
collections, stories of horror and glory, and how different cultures
embrace it around the world. To these people, the shoes you wear
tells a lot about you and directors David T. Friendly and Mick
Partridge paint an interesting, fast paced, and vibrant cinematic
picture.
I
was amazed at how vast the shoe subculture is and how many different
styles and lingo there Is. One 'sneakerhead' featured is very into
Air Jordans and claims that he may never be able to collect them all
because there are so many. Some have collections of shoes that are
in the thousands that help compliment their passion for 'the sneaker
game'. One section in particular in the doc that struck me was The
Art of the Hunt that reveals the treasure hunt involved in
getting the sneakers and the terrors of online bidding. Some goes
millions of miles just to get their hands one specific sneaker.
Presented
in standard definition, the film looks fine for the format and is
presented in 1.77:1 anamorphically enhanced widescreen with even
colors throughout, though it could benefit a better viewing in high
definition. The sound mix is a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track that
sounds fine as well for what it is.
No
extras for this version, but we hope a future version has some.
