Bad

From
the directors of 2013's 21 and Over, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore
bring us the lighthearted 2016 comedy Bad Moms which stars
Mila Kunis (Ted, Jupiter Ascending), Kristen Bell
(Frozen), Kathryn Hawhn (Tomorrowland), Jada Pinkett
Smith (TV's Gotham), Kesha (Jane the Virgin), and
Christina Applegate (TV's Married with Children). With
offbeat humor similar to films like The Hangover Trilogy, Bad
Moms is a cute and slightly predictable comedy that isn't without
some laughs. I was surprised how well the film turned out to be
honest, as most of the cast shine pretty bright throughout. Some of
the jokes are a bit hammy, especially Kathryn Hawhn whose character
seems to be mostly comprised of ad-libbed lines, but Kunis steals the
show as a tormented and transformative mother who finds her place
amidst her daily struggles and Applegate plays the perfect opposite
to her character. This film is a fun watch for the performances
alone.
Amy
(Kunis) is in her early thirties with two nice kids and a great job,
but soon finds out that her husband hasn't been a truthful as she
suspected. She hits a wall when she encounters the snotty PTA Moms
(led by Christina Applegate) - who decide to put her in charge of a
school-wide bakery sale. Amy refuses the offer, much to the shock of
the PTA, which brings out two other moms (Bell and Hawhn) - who, too,
need a release from their stressful lives. The trio let their hair
down and start living their own lives to the fullest, much to the
shock of others to ultimately make positive changes in their lives.
This
Blu-ray/DVD combo pack brings us the film in stunning 1080p high
definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and a lossless
DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 track that looks and sounds fantastic
throughout. Contrast is even with skin tones and the film is bright
and really nice to look at.
The
included DVD is presented in standard definition with an anamorphic
widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track
that look and sound fine for the format, but don't look as clear in
detail as the Blu-ray. An UltraViolet Copy is also available for
your smart phone or tablet if you watch films on the go.
The
extras are a little light featuring...
Gag
Reel
Cast
and Mom Interviews
A
film that is better than is marketed, I would suggest Bad Moms
for a date night or if you're looking for escapism comedy.
