The Perfect Insider: Complete Collection (2015/Sentai Blu-ray Set)

Picture: C+ Sound: C+ Extras: C Episodes: B+

Professor Saikawa and his assistant/student Nishinosono was invited to on a remote island get-away vacation for a chance to meet a genius prodigy, Dr. Matgata Shiki. Dr. Shiki has been living alone in sealed laboratory for the last 15 years for a crime, but still contributing to the world via video chat. When they break the seal and find the Doctor Magata murdered, it suddenly turns into a crime scene, but for Saikawa and Nishinosono, this is their type of ideal vacation, on an island full of geniuses ...and someone among them is the murderer in The Perfect Insider: Complete Collection (2015).

Professor Saikawa is also a genius computer programer who is in love with the chance to meet his idol Dr. Magata Shiki who was even a more prodigy than him. But after Magata murdered her parents 15 years ago, she was sealed away in a high tech laboratory to continue working and hasn't had any human contact since. Nishinosono is a math prodigy heiress and she is infatuated with Professor Saikawa and is his student assistant (self proclaimed). Dr. Shiki however wasn't your normal genius, along with murder she also had multi-personality disorder and was an anomaly. Now, Saikawa and Nishinosono has to figure out not only how the murderer got in (and out) of a perfectly sealed island laboratory, but also 15 years into the past of Dr. Magata's dark secrets and her laboratory to piece together the macabre clues she left behind.

This was your typical murder mystery, but as a smart series. We're talking murder in a very specific condition and a mystery to how it was done. As usual, all the characters seem un-alarmed they are in a murder scene (as well as the fact the murderer is still among them). We will skip synopses of each show due to their mystery nature, but know that each episode the series give the audience one more clue to who might have done it (as well as red herrings) and in the end you have to think like a criminal in order to catch the criminal.

Unfortunately, the 1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image and Japanese DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 2.0 Stereo lossless mix are overly simple, in part by design, and just don't stack up to the best playback of Sentai's many great Anime releases. However, don't let that stop you from watching and enjoying, just expect something very toned down throughout. Extras include clean opening and closing animations and trailers.
