The
popular sitcom Modern Family returns for a Seventh Season
and is collected together in this three disc set from Fox that fans
will want to pick up. The show features an all star comedic cast
including Ed O’ Neill (Married with Children), Sofia
Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric
Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, and Nolan Gould to name a
few.
Told
from the perspective of an unseen documentary filmmaker (and without
a laugh track), the series offers an honest, often-hilarious
perspective of three interconnected families in the 21st Century in
California. Middle-aged parents Phil (Burrell) and Claire (Bowen)
are using the best of their abilities to raise their three kids.
Also in the picture is Claire's dad, Jay (O'Neill), and his Latina
wife, Gloria (Vergara), to whom are raising two sons together and
finally Jay's gay son, Mitchell (Ferguson), and his partner, Cameron
(Stonestreet), who have also adopted a little Asian girl - all of
which culminate in a narrative of traditional, multicultural, and
homosexual family dynamics.
Episodes
include Summer Lovin, The Day Alex Left for College, The Closet
Case, She Crazy, The Verdict, The More You Ignore Me, Phil's Sexy
Sexy House, Clean Out Your Junk Drawer, White Christmas, Playdates,
Spread Your Wings, Clean For A Day, Thunk in the Trunk, The Storm, I
Don't Know How She Does It, The Cover-Up, Express Yourself, The
Party, Man Shouldn't Lie, Promposal, Crazy Train, and Double
Click.
Presented
in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of
1.78:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the show looks and sounds
fine on DVD but isn't too much better than the initial broadcast
presentation-wise. Seeing the series commercial-free is a treat,
however, that fans won't want to miss.
