Daniel
Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's absurd 2016 comedy/drama Swiss Army
Man is one of the weirdest movies you will see this year.
Starring Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) and Danielle
Radcliffe (the Harry Potter films), this is undoubtedly a triumph in
terms of filmmaking, acting, and dramatic storytelling, but so
ludicrous in terms of plot that you will either love it or hate it.
Hank
(Dano) is about to end his life after being stranded on a desert
island. When his suicide attempt is thwarted, he finds the corpse of
Manny (Radcliffe) that continually passes gas and subconsciously
beckons him. Riding the corpse like a farting jet ski, Manny ends up
back on land where during his journey he befriends the corpse and
carries him on his back (who slowly starts talking to him again),
where he teaches him about life and longs for a woman that he sees a
picture of on a cell phone (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). The story is
at its core about male bonding and friendship, but is comprised by of
humor, music, sex jokes, and Jurassic Park references.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 is
a really good-looking digital shoot, while the great sounding Dolby
Atmos 11.1 track may not be a demo track all the time, but matches
the eccentric, wacky on-screen action well. Also included is a
lossless Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track that sounds great as well.

Definitely
one of a kind, Swiss Army Man is a weird and wild journey from
start to finish.
