The Animal Band – Imagination Dance

Sometimes music aimed at young children works and
sometimes it does not. The Animal
Band – Imagination Dance is a compilation of 12 songs that just never
works. This might be good for very
young kids, as the box notes it is for 3 and up, but I would say past 6 years
old and your child will get bored quick, unless they are bonkers for animals.
Of course, it is live action human beings doing the
singing, but it is simpler than many kids will be able to handle via shorter
attention spans and the fact that many other such programs exist now, versus
the early years of PBS, where this was just a growing market. The performances are about as good as the
limited material, which is at least not harmful. Imagination Dance may not appeal to a majority of that 3 –
6 age group, so you will have to experiment yourself to find out.
The 1.33 X 1 full frame image is shot on analog NTSC
videotape and is adequate at best, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has no
surround information of any kind.
Except for a photo gallery set to another of their songs, extras are
nonexistent. The whole thing felt that
way for me when it was over.
