Based
on a true story, basketball coach Don Meyer is one of basketball's
greatest college coaches. Through his coaching, he has lead
countless teams to win and become champions, but when Coach Meyers is
almost killed in life threatening accident, it will be the coach who
needs his team to help him return to the game in Ralph E. Portillo's
My Many Sons (2015).
Coach
Meyers is known for his harsh and tough love coaching, and is known
as the drill sergeant of coaches. More than half his recruits end up
quitting, but Coach Meyers doesn't care. Talent brought them there,
but only hard work and teamwork will make them a winning team. For
those who survive his training/boot camp they will move on and become
basketball legends. However more important than winning is Coach
Meyers' desire to teach these young men, to teach them to become
respectable men. But when tragedy hits their coach, it will be the
team's turn to be there for their coach.
This
was your typical sports movie, however instead of focusing the
players, it focuses on the coach. It is about the spirit of never
giving up, especially in sports when an athlete loses their ability
to play the sport they love. And in the end, it is about the team
coming together when things are at there worse. Better than usual
for such a release, Judge Reinhold leads the cast.
The
anamorphically enhanced image is too soft for its own good, but the
lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is more like it, clear and well-recorded,
even in the form of this old codec. Extras include a Lipscomb
University Video and trailers.
