Supernatural: The Complete Eleventh Season (2015 - 2016/Warner DVD set)

Picture: B-

Comparable to shows like (the now canceled) Constantine or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural is a mildly violent fantasy romp that centers around two Brothers (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) who go up against demonic forces while trying to protect those who come in contact with them. The show has strong production values with plenty of well executed digital effects but at times suffers from bad acting and predictably plot points.

I'll be the first to admit that I haven't seen the show in its entirety, so at times I found myself a little lost in the plot of this season, but overall I found it to be pretty enjoyable PG-13ish fare. In a time where we have demonic possession shows that are pushing the TV-MA boundaries such as American Horror Story or AMC's Preacher, this show is better for teens or those that like dark fantasy without too much gore. Still, it is impressive that the show has such a strong fanbase that it has lasted eleven seasons, with another one on the way.

23 episodes span six DVDs which include Out of the Darkness Into the Fire, Form and Void, The Bad Seed, Baby, Thin Lizzie, Our Little World, Plush, Just My Imagination, O Brother Where Art Thou?, The Devil in the Details, Into the Mystic, Don't You Forget About Me, Love Hurts, The Vessel, Beyond the Mat, Safe House, Red Meat, Hell's Angel, The Chitters, Don't Call Me Shurley, All in the Family, We Happy Few, and Alpha and Omega.

Presented in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the show looks and sounds fine for DVD but could greatly benefit to a high definition update.

Special Features include Jensen Ackles on directing ''Bad Seed'', On Set With SPN: The Real Fan Contest, The Winchester Mythology: Shedding Light on the Darkness, Digital Magic: Enhancing the Sets with VFX, 2015 Comic-Con Panel and Gag Reel.

For fans of the show, this edition won't disappoint with plenty of great extras and a collectible booklet that highlights the season.
