Nicholas
Cage and Elijah Wood star in the better-than-expected 2016 thriller
The Trust, directed by Benjamin and Alex Brewer. With an
interesting screenplay at its core, the film centers around two cops
bored with their jobs that just so happen to stumble upon a lead that
could make them rich. Bending the rules of their authority, they
come across a criminal hiding a safe full of money and drugs in the
back of a convenience store.
Cage
plays the role of good cop/bad cop here and delivers a subdued
performance that's effective. It's sad now that many producers
probably view Cage as a high risk, given his many dubs as of late but
this film shows that he still has what it takes to deliver a good
performance. Elijah Wood is great in the film too as a Police
Evidence Investigator with some bad habits that isn't afraid to get
his hands dirty. Many of the films highlights follow the sneaky
investigation that leads up to the robbery and many great shots of
Las Vegas. The film definitely looks bigger than it probably cost as
isn't to be quickly overlooked.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.85:1
that is rich in detail and a lossless English DTS-HD MA (Master
Audio) 5.1 track, the presentation on the disc is up to par with
Blu-ray standards and looks great. Also included is a digital copy.
