Director
of The Color of Time, Pamela Romanowsky, helms the 2015
thriller The Adderall Diaries now finding its way onto Blu-ray
disc with a stunning transfer. Featuring an impressive cast
including James Franco, Ed Harris, Amber Heard, Christian Slater, and
Cynthia Nixon, the twisted film is based on a novel by Stephen
Elliott. If you like sex, drugs, and plenty of drama, then this film
will likely entertain you but not leave you feeling too cherry after.
Full of predictable plot points and some missed moments, the film
isn't up to standards set by stronger directors in the current
thriller genre such as David Fincher, but Romanowsky manages to make
a film that's at least mediocre.
Stephen
Elliot (Franco), a has-been author addicted to Adderall, becomes
obsessed with a high-profile murder case and makes it the subject of
his next novel. His interest leads him to meet Lana Edmond (Heard),
a reporter who gives him the hot tips that he needs to make the book
good (of course they have a steamy love affair). Just as his luck is
starting to turn around, Stephen encounters his abusive Father
(Harris) who publicly taunts him about his new novel and digs up some
old skeletons from the closet (figuratively speaking). Dealing with
the stress of the past and the present, Stephen must overcome
addiction, lust, and violence in order to solve the case's truth.
Presented
in high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.39:1 and a
crisp sounding lossless, English DTS-HD 5.1 MA (Master Audio) track,
the film looks and sounds fantastic on Blu-ray disc, dark or not.
Also included is an UltraViolet Digital Copy of the film in a
compressed format.

Scenes
The
film is interestingly shot but doesn't feel as good as it could have
been, considering the talent involved.
