Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016/Fox/DreamWorks Blu-ray w/DVD)

Picture: A/B Sound: B+/B Extras: A Film: A

The Furious Five are back. Po discovers a secret panda village leading to his long lost family. But when a supernatural warrior escapes from the spirit world and threatens to destroy all villages and enslave the Kung Fu masters. Po must fight to protect all he loves in Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016).

Po is the Kung Fu Panda, the Dragon Warrior, but all his mad kung-fu skills will not prepare him when he is reunited with his long lost father and he learns there is a secret village full of pandas out there. He will have to retrain himself (and the villagers) to become a 'chi master' to defeat an evil 500-year-old spirit warrior 'Kai' from Master Oogway's past. Only by combining everyone's chi does Po have a chance to defeat Kai.

This was another great addition to the Kung Fu Panda saga, full of action, comedy, laughter and family fun goodness. The movie is all about a student become the master when he/she is able to teach others and about being the best yourself as possible. The voice actors including Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Bryan Cranston, J.K. Simmons, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, James Hong, Wayne Knight and Jean-Claude Van Damme among others is top rate, making this another strong entry in the series.

The 1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High definition image is incredible and shows how strong the CGI animation from DreamWorks continues to be: highly impressive. The DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 7.1 mix is a nice mixdown from the Auro 11.1/Dolby Atmos 11.1 mix featured in the most deluxe theatrical screenings of the film, but sounds really fine here throughout. The anamorphically enhanced DVD with lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is passable, but no much more after the outright experience of the Blu-ray. Extras come with all new Kung Fu Panda shorts, "Everyone Loves A Panda Party" Karaoke with Po, Make A Panda Party Paper Pal, The Origin of "Skadoosh" and more.
