Emma's
Chance (2016/Sony DVD)

After
being busted for trespassing Emma (Greer Grammer) is forced to do
community service on a horse recovery farm with abused horses. As
she learns how to take care of horses she learns about herself
(including her choice of friends), but when Red Bucket Farm comes
under financial crisis, Emma will have to ride with Chance to win the
$10,000 prize money. Will Emma and Chance have the heart of a
champion to save the farm?
In
Anna Elizabeth James' Emma's Chance (2016), Emma is your
typical high school girl, after one of her friend's 'pranks' goes
overboard, she was caught and left behind and she was forced to work
on the farm. There Emma learns about caring for others, fair play
and sometimes helping friends is more about not letting them help
themselves on yourself. Real friends don't abuse (and use) others
but help them.
This
was your typical girl and her horse story, though not as sloppy, bad
or lame as some in recent years. Being with the horse the girl helps
the horse become a champion and the girl recovers her own spirit and
learns to grow up a little as well. Along with this particular film
it is also about not giving in to peer pressure and leaders isn't
just about being a pretty face. Joey Lawrence, Missi Pyle and Traci
Nelson also star.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is not bad for DVD, but the
lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is a bit off. Extra includes a trailer.
