Ellie
(Liana Liberato) and her best friend Max 'the Wax' (Isabelle Fuhrman)
decide to go on a cross country road trip across America after the
death of her mother to give a speech she was give to Eleanor
Roosevelt, circa 1962. After stealing her father's car (and him
chasing after them), they end up picking an escaped criminal and
their Aunt to interview on Broadway. They end up all over America
and learning what it means to truly follow their heart and theirs
dreams ...even when things doesn't go quiet as they expected in Kevin
Connolly's Dear
Eleanor
(2016).
After
the death of her mother Ellie had to take care of entire family, her
father, brothers and sisters. Tired of being the responsible one,
she decides to go on that road trip across America with her best
friend to meet Eleanor Roosevelt to just fulfill her mother's last
wishes, Max is a free spirit who tends do things on the fly (and more
often get them into trouble), but then they pick up a runaway convict
(who doesn't want their money but only a ride) and they pick up her
wayward stripper aunt to help her audition for a dance in NY.
Together, this odd crew travels across America (and from Ellie's
father) enjoying the Midwest and living the American dream.
This
was a slice of life/comedy film about 2 teenage girls traveling
across America (thank god I don't have teenage girls). A lot of film
made references to women's rights during the early part of the Civil
Rights Era and how woman can do anything (poking fun on how the men
did nothing) and 2 girls out smarting the system. Jessica Alba,
Patrick Schwarzenegger and Josh Lucas also star.
The
anamorphically enhanced 2.35 X 1 image (shot on the Arri Alexa HD
camera) and the lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mix are as good as they can
be for this format. Extras include commentary with director and
writers, and trailers.
