Touched

If
you or a loved one have a bipolar manic depressive condition, then
you will definitely be able to identify with this hard hitting drama
starring Katie Holmes and Luke Kirby (both of whom have a strong
onscreen chemistry), that is the feature film debut of director Paul
Dalio; Touched
With Fire
(2016).
If
you threw One
Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest,
Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,
and the underrated 2010 comedy/drama It's
Kind of a Funny Story
into a blender then you would have this film. While it is nicely
produced and acted, I ultimately found it to be a bit predictable and
familiar in terms of plot.
When
two poets (Holmes and Kirby) that have bipolar disorders meet in a
psychiatric treatment facility, they soon fall in love and influence
one another into living their lives to the fullest in the most insane
ways possible. While everyone in their lives tells them that their
relationship is toxic, the two battle the disease and change one
another forever.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and
a lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 track that is nice &
clear here on Blu-ray disc. Also included is a digital copy of the
film for your tablet or smartphone if you like to watch your films on
the go.
Extras
include
''The
Making of Touched with Fire'' featurette.
Audio
Commentary with Writer/Director Paul Dalio and Producer/Director of
Photography Kristina Nikolova.
''A
Conversation with Paul Dalio and Dr. Kay Jamison'' featurette.

All
in all, a one time watch for me but if you enjoy dramas or films
centered around mental illnesses, then this is one to put on your
watch list.
