Looking
for an explosive new action film? Then you may want to check this
new release from Magnet, Allan Ungar's Gridlocked
(2015), which stars Dominic Purcell, Cody Hackman, Trish Stratus,
plus veteran action stars Vinnie Jones, Steven Lang & Danny
Glover, who are all great here.
The
film reminds me the most of a throwback to the buddy cop comedies of
the 1980s and 1990s, where two unlikely heroes must band together to
take down a team of angry villains. While this also makes the film a
bit predictable, it is saved by decent performances, tasteful
violence, and nicely choreographed action sequences that are sure to
please fans of the Beverly
Hills Cop
franchises and the like.
Former
SWAT and highly proficient at all that he does, badass David Hendrix
(Purcell), has to but up with the outlandish and arrogant antics from
movie star (Hackman) who is making headlines on tabloids everywhere
and is out of control. Walker has one chance left to straighten
himself out if he wants to avoid massive jail time, so he is assigned
an extended ride-along with the force. Soon, the police training
facility is attacked by a team of mercenaries lead by Steven Lang.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.39:1 and
a lossless 5.1 DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) track, the film looks and
sounds fantastic on Blu-ray disc. First premiering at Fantastic
Fest, this film is a nice looking addition to any action collection.
