and Mike Judge's Silicon Valley continues with a Season 2
(2015) that continues its hilarious look at tech culture. Partially
inspired by Mike Judge's own experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer
in the late 1980s, this comedy follows the lives of five software
developers who try to develop a new software platform that will
change the world, while living together in Silicon Valley where the
computer industry is booming. The show stars Thomas Middleditch,
T.J. Miller, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Woods, and Josh
Brener.
The
show is a cross between Mike Judge's own now-beloved Office Space
(reviewed elsewhere on this site) with the tone/language of David
Fincher's The Social Network. While I feel like the first
season was a bit funnier and had more replay value, this Second
Season has some great moments and made me chuckle quite a few
times as well. If I was more keen on some of the tech language and
inside jokes, I'm sure I would enjoy the show more.
10
episodes comprise Season 2 including Sand Hill Shuffle,
Runaway Devaluation, Bad Money, The Lady, Server Space, Homicide,
Adult Content, White Hat/Black Hat, Blinding Arbitration, and Two
Days of the Condor.
Presented
in crisp 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of
1.78:1 and a lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 track that doesn't
disappoint on each episode, as usual with HBO releases, all is solid
and comparable if not better than the original HBO digital broadcast.
There is also a Digital Copy of all of this season included.
Extras
include about twenty-minute minutes of content on the second disc
including Making of Silicon Valley, TechCrunch: Disrupt!, and
The Hacker Hostel.
