99
Homes (2015) is a powerful drama starring Michael Shannon and
Andrew Garfield perfectly cast as the leads. Emotionally raw, the
film centers around real estate and home repossession and will surely
strike home to many families across America. Co-starring Laura Dern
and directed by Ramin Bahrani, this film will grab you from frame one
and won't let go until its stunning climax. I highly recommend it to
all fans of dramatic cinema.
Set
amidst the backdrop of the 2008 housing market catastrophe, Dennis
Nash (Garfield), a hard-working and honest man, can't save his family
home despite his best efforts. Thrown to the streets with alarming
precision by real estate shark Mike Carver (Shannon), Dennis, out of
work and luck, is given a unique opportunity - to join Carver's crew
and put others through the harrowing ordeal done to him in order to
earn back what's his.
The
film got great reviews from critics and understandably so as the
narrative storytelling here is top notch. For these two actors, who
are no strangers to big budget Hollywood blockbusters, it's
interesting to see them play more ordinary and flawed characters.
The production design, editing, and cinematography here are also top
notch, which really shines through on this incredible Blu-ray
presentation.
Presented
in 1080p High Definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and
a lossless English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track that doesn't
disappoint. The score to the film is gritty and really shines
through, adding intensity to the performances. Surprisingly, no
digital copy of the film included just the Blu-ray disc.
Special
Features include Audio Commentary by Writer/Director Ramin Bahrani
with a specially deleted scenes.
Great
film. Check it out!
