Irrational Man (2015/Sony Blu-ray)

Picture: C+ Sound: C+ Extras: C Film: B+

Professor Abe Lucas (Joaquin Phoenix) moves to a small town college teaching philosophy, with a most questionable reputation (from sleeping around with all women/students). Immediately, he becomes desired by two woman, Rita (Parker Posey), another lonely college professor is trapped in a loveless marriage and Jill (Emma Stone) his student who into the whole student and professor love affair and attracted to the macabre. After overhearing random conversation, Abe makes a choice and starts a chain reaction between Rita and Jill in Woody Allen's Irrational Man (2015).

Abe is depressed college philosophy professor who believes life is boring and has lost the zest for life. Rita become attracted to Abe because she is a married woman and needs a man who doesn't have any moral problems with having affair. Jill become attracted to Abe's depression and she could be his muse, experiencing of the whole teacher/student affair taboo too. After hearing a random conversation of a terrible judge, Abe decides to try and get away with the 'perfect' murder, but things get even more dangerous when Rita and Jill begin to talk with each another and begins to suspect Abe.

This is a film was a almost a comical drama about a man in a mid-life crisis, a desperate woman, girl who gets a kick seeing others worst off than her, and getting away with murder. As things begin come to a head, will the main character get away with murder or get caught because of his love affairs?

The 1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image was shot on 35mm film, but the transfers of it looks odd throughout and does not quite work despite some good shots coming through, while the lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mix is too much towards the front channels and almost just plain stereo. Extras include On the Red Carpet, Photo Gallery and Trailer.
