Andy
Sachs (Anne Hathaway) just got hired into Runway Magazine and is an
assistant to the fashion guru of the world, Miranda Priestly
(Meryl Streep). And she rapidly learns if she wants to survive
she'll have to look, act and do everything perfect for her new
employer. All Andy wanted was to be a journalist, but upon starting
her new job she learned that if she want to fit in, much less succeed
she'll have to learn everything about fashion in Director David
Frankel's The
Devil Wears Prada
(2006); here in its 10th
Anniversary Edition
on DVD.
To
change her looks, and appearance, Andy have to work under the devil
in high heels. Determined not to let Miranda beat her, Andy endures
and continues to succeed regardless of the impossible tasks Miranda
gives her. As Andy continues to climb the ladder to success, she
soon begins to wonder did she give up too much and forgot about who
she is, was, her friends and her dreams.
You know the secret
of being the devil is to get everyone to believe they want what the
devil wants. This was a wonderful funny movie about girls, fashion,
chasing one dreams and re-finding one self. It makes fun of the
fashion world about supermodels, designers and what people would do
to get there. We have reviewed this film twice before, starting with
the original Blu-ray edition here...

That
also links all the way back to the original DVD release offering the
same anamorphically enhanced 2.35 X 1 and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1
presentation as was then, though this is improved a little. The old
Blu-ray is narrowly better than this new DVD, so we expect the
Blu-ray version is the one to get. Of course, the real attraction is
the ton of new extras including audio commentaries, Deleted Scenes,
Trip to the Big Screen featurette, NYC and Fashion featurette,
Fashion Visionary Patricia Field featurette, Getting Valentino
featurette, Boss from Hell featurette, Gag Reel and trailers.
Needless
to say this is a film that deserves such an upgrade.
