Sinister

This
sequel to Sinister
features some creepy visuals (such as a few people strung up on poles
like scarecrows being set on fire), a decent performance by Shannyn
Sossamon, and a few jump scares but doesn't live up to the freshness
of the original. It borrows a lot from other films like Village
of the Damned
and, of course, the first Sinister
film in its attempt to scare up its audience. Ciaran Foy's Sinister
2
(2015) stars James Ransone, Shannyn Sossamon, Robert Daniel Sloan,
and Dartanian Sloan as Zach Collins.
Hiding
from her abusive, estranged husband, Courtney Collins (Sassamon)
lives in a rural house with her 9-year-old twins, Dylan and Zach.
Young Dylan receives nightly visits from ghoulish kids who show him
disturbing images of families being slaughtered. It's all part of
the grand plan of Bughuul, the evil spirit who recruits innocent
children to murder their loved ones. The only hope for his intended
new victims may be a former deputy who's familiar with Bughuul's
fiendish work from the past.
What
disappointed me was that the first act actually wasn't that bad.
Immediately, we are introduced to some creepy imagery and we meet our
family at first in a grocery store where they are being closely
watched by a man that works there. Once we get to the creepy house
and things start happening, the final act starts to fall apart and
all in all, this film just feels unnecessary.
The
presentation on the disc is top-notch with a 1080p high definition
transfer with a widescreen aspect ratio of 2.40:1 and a powerful
DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 5.1 track that does not disappoint.
There's also a digital copy of the film included as well.
Extras
include:

Kill Films
Time
to Watch Another: The Making of Sinister 2

Commentary with Director Ciaran Foy
Unless
you're a diehard fan of the original, you can safely skip this one.
