Huo
An (Jackie Chan) is the protector and warrior of the Silk Road, a
rich trade route coveted by many races and tribes, where his job is
to keep the peace between all the tribes, traders, and nations who
are on the road. But a when a corrupt Roman General Tiberius (Adrien
Brody) and his massive army arrives he demands that all must summit
to his rule ...or die. Along with Lucius (John Cusack), a Roman
defector and they must somehow unite the remaining tribes against a
foe whom none of them could never defeat alone.
In
Daniel Lee's Dragon Blade (2015), Huo An meets the Roman
general Lucius with his legion and helps create a city in which all
are welcomed, then suddenly, the corrupt general Tiberius arrives and
forces Roman rule at a point of a sword and slaughters thousands to
secure his rule. The once-delicate peace of Silk Road becomes
shattered, but Huo An unites all the tribes he has befriended to
protect the city they had built together.
This was like
watching the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit - the Battle of Five Armies,
except in ancient China with Roman, Chinese, and Middle Eastern
Armies. While this was an historical fiction action movie, it has
the usual Jackie Chan trademark with his over the top martial arts
and humor; his best film in a good while.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image transfer is from a
really good Red Epic HD camera shoot, but some visual effects are way
too obvious, while the DTS-HD MA
(Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix may not be as impressive, but kicks
in when it needs to. Extras
include a behind the scenes look at Dragon Blade, 2 music videos with
Jackie Chan, interviews with cast and crew, and trailers.
