Memories Of The Sword (2015/Well Go Blu-ray)

Picture: B+ Sound: B+ Extras: C Film: B

Three legendary warriors plot to overthrow a corrupt government, but when one of them betrays them, the rebellion is crushed and the people killed. 20 years later, a young girl raised by one of the surviving masters has been trained all her life to avenge those who died. But for justice, revenge or vengeance will end in tragedy?

In Heung-Sik Park's Memories Of The Sword (2015), Hong-yi has been raised all her life to believe her father was killed by the traitorous hero of the rebellion, but in truth she is the daughter of the now tyrant who controls government, the minister. She was raised by her blind swordmaster mother who believe it to be karma justice for her lover/betrayer to be killed by his own daughter. After discovering the truth will she have to courage to kill her own father still?

This was yet another Korean Martial arts film and it seems like in all Korean films the government is portrayed as corrupt and evil, all those who have work in the government have gotten there by betrayal and deceit. That no matter who you are, even a hero, can become evil when tempted by power. There is no honor in the Korean government, only tragedy, sacrifice and loss.

The 1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image is an Arri Alexa HD shoot that looks really good throughout, while the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix is aggressively effective throughout. Extras include trailers only.
