Eaters
(2011/Lionsgate DVD)

If
Strangers
scared you then you may want to check out this indie horror film,
Eaters,
that is set against a desert landscape with masked humans being the
killers. Part Texas
Chainsaw Massacre
and part Strangers,
this film was better than expected.
Five
friends embark on an epic road trip, but when one friend disappears
at a rest stop, their search brings them face to face with a violent
biker gang. After a narrow escape from death, their nightmare goes
from bad to spine-chilling when they find themselves being stalked by
Eaters, sack headed old fashioned-dressed people, in an abandoned
desert town.
Eaters
stars Marcelle Bowman (Last
Days),
Robert Dean (Jim),
Jonathan Haltiwanger (TV's Street
Behavior)
and Hannah Risinger (TV's Dead
of Night).
The film is low budget but has some impressive gore including a
tongue being cut by scissors. Ouch!
Presented
in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of
2.40:1 and a lossy English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the film looks
fine for a DVD but doesn't reach the detail of high definition.
The
only extra is a Trailer Gallery of other Lionsgate films including
Maggie
(reviewed elsewhere on this site).
