Black

3-Blu-ray Set)

Starz's
second season of Black
Sails
is dramatic, action packed, and a welcome follow-up to the first hit
season. The show is based off the classic Treasure
Island
by Robert
Louis Stevenson, is a more realistic and adult pirate fare than
Disney's Pirates
of the Caribbean
films and stars
Toby Stephens, Hannah New, Zach McGowan, Luke Arnold, Jessica Parker
Kennedy, and Clara Paget.
The
Walrus crew is stranded with an army of Spanish soldiers standing
between them and the precious Urca gold, the object of their
affections. And with their crimes against their brethren no longer a
secret, Flint and Silver must join forces in a desperate bid for
survival. Meanwhile, Eleanor Guthrie struggles to maintain her grip
on Nassau as Ned Low, a relentless pirate that feeds off violence,
makes an appearance. Once friends get slain, Charles Vane must
decide which he values more; Eleanor's life, or the respect of his
men. Meanwhile, a prize of immeasurable value has already been
smuggled onto the island that will test them on their true intentions
and purpose.
Ten
episodes make up Season 2, while Season 1 (see my
review elsewhere on this site) only had 8 episodes. Each one is
named accordingly by rominumeral numbers.
Presented
in 1080p high definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and
a lossless, impressive Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track that doesn't
disappoint. There are also lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks in French
and Spanish. The discs look phenomenal with quality that surpassed
the original broadcast versions. There are also Digital Copies
included if you like to watch your shows on the go.
Special
features include an awesome collectible case with lenticular artwork
and nice fold out packaging featuring the main characters of the
show. We also get:
Inside
The World Of Black Sails
The
Man O' War

High
Seas Action

If
you're a fan of this show and enjoyed season one, then this is
definitely the edition to pick up as it's packed with extras and has
astounding sound and picture quality. Be sure to catch up before
diving into Season 2, or you might be a little lost.
