Domizano
Cristophano's X-Rated nightmare of a foreign porno, Hyde's Secret
Nightmare (2012), is almost as painful to sit through as a root
canal. With the most ludicrous plot that loosely represents Jekyll
and Hyde (though Hyde is the man's female side, an idea done in far
superior fashion by Brian Clemens in Dr. Jekyll & Sister Hyde,
reviewed elsewhere on this site) and is dedicated to Joe D'Amato.
Basically, the film is cross cut with erotica and surreal horror
scenes that aim to repulse and hypnotize you. For me it just did the
latter, only in the worst possible ways.
Henry
is a Scientist who attempts to create a miraculous remedy to cure his
impotence. His loyal assistant Hans helps him along with Abdul, a
necrophiliac grave digger who finds the corpses for his Master's
experiments. Unsatisfied with the results, Henry tests on himself
the serum that he has been studying and improving for years
ultimately finding himself in the body of a woman - Eva Hyde (Roberta
Gemma).
Presented
in standard definition with an anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of
1.85:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track, the film looks and
sounds fine for the format. Extras include a Trailer, Deleted Scenes,
Bloopers, Confessions, a Commentary, Photo Gallery and a Comic on
DVD-ROM.
Unless
you're into this sort of thing, I think you can safely pass it up and
not lose any sleep.
