Homeland
returns for its fourth season starring the talented Claire Danes who
stars as Carrie Mathison, a brilliant but volatile CIA agent,
suspects that a rescued U.S. POW may not be what he seems. Is Marine
Sgt. Nicholas Brody a war hero...or an Al Qaeda sleeper agent
plotting a spectacular terrorist attack on U.S. soil? Following her
instincts, Mathison will risk everything to uncover the truth - her
reputation, her career and even her sanity.
Being
new to watching this series, I found it pretty relative to today's
news headlines in terms of terrorism and threats to our country and
it all feels very real and that it could actually be happening
somewhere in the world, which gives the narrative more weight. Trust
is a big theme in this season, where many characters are caught
spying on each other in this world where even a cell phone could be
perceived as a weapon.
Twelve
episodes make up this season which include The Drone Queen, Trylon
and Perisphere, Shalwar Kameez, Iron In The Fire, About A Boy, From A
to B and Back Again, Redux, Halfway to a Donut, There's Something
Else Going On, 13 Hours in Islamabad, Krieg Nicht Lieb, and Long
Time Coming.
My
only issues with the series were being a little lost from not seeing
all of the episodes that made up before this one and a certain loss
of humor for the most part. Everything here is very serious and
reminded me of a Steven Soderbergh film where capturing realism is
mainly the key to the production, which isn't a bad thing but just
don't always my thing.
Flawlessly
presented on Blu-ray by fox, the show is presented in 1080p high
definition with a widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a lossless
DTS-Master Audio 5.1 track that blows away the original television
broadcasts of the show. The DTS tracks here are in English,
Japanese, Spanish, and Italian depending on what part of the world
you are in or alternatives you might want to try out.
Extras
include:
Deleted
Scenes
Character
Profiles
From
Script to Screen - a variety of featurettes that highlight the
writing of the show.
