Sergeant
Leng Feng (Jackie Wu aka this film's director, Wu Jing) is a sniper
within the Red Army of China. After being court martial and
dishonorably discharged for disobeying orders of the general for
rescuing hostages, he was recruited by the Wolf Brigade, the special
forces within the special forces. But when he killed, a Kingpin's
brother he becomes a target for revenge ...and the Kingpin send his
red mercenaries of death in Wolf
Warrior
(2015).
Leng Feng is one of the best of the best, but he has a
tendency to disobeying his superior's (stupid) orders (or at least
what he thinks so) when it comes to saving lives or he see a chance
to accomplish the mission. While his skills are unquestionable, his
judgement/ability to follow orders is not suited for the regular
army, but he is perfect for the Wolf Brigade. The Wolf Brigade is a
secret elite group of soldiers created to hunt down China's enemies
at any cost, but the hunter suddenly becomes the hunted when a major
Kingpin sends his (American) Red Mercenaries of Death to kill him and
deliver a biological doomsday weapon that targets Asian DNA.
This
was an action packed martial arts/army movie. For some reason, the
director of the movie had all the 'soldiers' always in clean clothes
and sweating as if they all came from an ironman workout. But I do
have to say it seemed like this movie was a government influenced
propaganda film, it was filled with loyalty to China, it's military
and how each China's Red Army soldier is like a one man army. Kill
one, a hundred more will take his place. Nan Wu, Kevin Lee. Kyle
Shapiro, Sona Eyambe, Samuel Thiverage and a brief turn by Scott
Adkins make up the supporting cast.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image is a solid digital
shoot, while the lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mix that is a
good, if not great mixdown from the original theatrical Dolby Atmos
11.1 mix that might miss a few possibilities. Extras include
trailers.
