Maclean's Slow West is a beautiful film from frame one until
its conclusion. A true Western in a time where there aren't many,
the film stars Michael Fassbender and Kodi Smit-McPhee, both of who
are ironically mutants in Bryan Singer's X-Men universe.
Though vastly different here, Fassbender plays a cutthroat drifter
not-unlike Clint Eastwood's classic characters with a 'shoot first
and ask questions later' mentality.
At
the end of the nineteenth century, 16-year-old Jay Cavendish (Kodi
Smit-McPhee) journeys across the American frontier in search of the
woman he loves. He is joined by Silas (Michael Fassbender), a
mysterious traveler, and hotly pursued by an outlaw along the way.
Little does the boy know but the woman he loves and her Father are
worth a large reward and Silas is smart enough to use the kid to get
to a good payday.
Beautifully
presented on the Blu-ray format, this film has an incredible 1080p
high definition transfer (with a 1.66:1 widescreen aspect ratio) that
is picturesque and high in detail. Coupled with this glorious image
is a lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 track and English and
Spanish subtitles.

include A Making of Featurette and Deleted Scenes.
If
you are a fan of Westerns, definitely don't let this one pass you by.
Excellent performances and beautiful cinematography are on full
display here with an intriguing story that, while short, doesn't let
up.
