Primarily
shot in a prison with security cameras and hidden cameras, this web
series features several teams of young Youtube stars including Joey
Graceffa, Jesse and Jeana (Prank vs Prank), Justine Ezarik
(iJustine), Iman Crosson (Alphacat), Meghan Camarena
(Strawburry17), Olga Kay and more, as they face challenges in
an attempt to eliminate each other from the competition while trying
to survive the zombie outbreak. In essence, the show is about people
walking through a haunted house but the concept is interesting enough
to give a chance.
Shot
over the course of two days at Sybil Brand Women's Prison in Los
Angeles, competitors were first blindfolded, driven in circles, led
onto the set, and zipped into body bags, all to help simulate the
all-too-real tension of awaking in a post-apocalyptic landscape
riddled by monsters out for blood. The concept of the show is pretty
interesting as they are instructed by a faceless character named Dr.
Altagracia, the contestants are tasked with finding the antidote that
can save mankind.
Enlisting
over 200 extras as cool to mediocre looking Zombies, FX Supervisor
Tommy Pietch ( of the popular SyFy Network show Face Off)
lends his skill to bringing zombies to live that are all tasked with
keeping the competitors from accomplishing their mission.
Getting
more than 9 million views since premiering on a streaming digital
network, this 'reality' competition will either thrill or bore you,
depending on how much you enjoy these types of shows. Presented in
standard definition anamorphic 16 X 9 widescreen and an aspect ratio
of 1.85:1 and paired with a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the
transfer here is standard and nothing to really write home about.
Extras
are light and feature a making of and character profiles. You can
access individual episodes or watch them as all as a feature
presentation.
Perhaps
with bigger celebrities, a bigger budget, some better actors, and a
more appealing prize, this show could be a bit more interesting than
it is but I've definitely seen worse.
