What
if a practical joke went horribly, terribly wrong? Such is the basis
for the new found-footage film The Jokesters. Four good
friends (a cast of unknowns) are the members of the successful
Internet prank show PrankMasters. When the leader of the
group, Ethan, announces that he is getting married and leaving the
group, the rest of the founding members decide to pull off one final
stunt on their friend's honeymoon; an elaborate cabin in the
woods-esque nightmare with a spooky mask/slasher.
What
follows is a spiral decent into terror when the prank goes too far.
Who will survive this brutal slaying and who is this masked murderer
guy? All in all, this is just another cheap indie horror film hoping
to serve up some scares. Taking pages from The Evil Dead, Scream,
and countless other successful horror franchises with some prank
jokes thrown in for good measure, Jokesters is retread and
ultimately nothing more than a redbox rental.
